Who we are

The group began in 1388 — 2009 — making and supplying industrial equipment and instruments. This site is the heating element side of that work: the elements themselves, the jobs they go into, and the engineering behind choosing one.

Elements are supplied two ways. As catalogue types, where the page tells you what the thing is and what it suits. And as custom builds, made to the dimensions, power and working conditions of one particular machine.

What we build

Eight families of element and the types under them, plus builds that are not catalogue parts at all.

The catalogue

Cartridge, tubular, immersion, band, flat and strip, flexible, radiant and high-temperature elements. Each family page lists the types under it and the figures they are usually built to.

Custom builds

From your drawing, from a sample element you send, or designed from your working conditions when you have neither. Each route has a page saying exactly what to send.

What a build is specified by

Diameter and length, heated length, power and voltage, sheath material, termination and thread, and whether a thermocouple is built into the element.

Maximum sizes and per-element limits are quoted against your enquiry rather than listed here. They depend on the build, and a published table that did not match what arrives would be worse than no table at all.

How an element is checked

These are the measurements that decide whether an element is sound. Say which of them you want recorded for your order, and anything your process demands on top.

Resistance
Measured cold, in ohms, against the rated voltage and power. A reading far above means a broken wire; near zero means a short.
Insulation resistance
Measured between the terminal pin and the body. A low reading means moisture has reached the magnesium oxide powder inside the sheath.
Dimensions
Overall length, heated length, diameter, thread and lead lengths — the figures that decide whether it fits the machine it was made for.
Leak test
On immersion heaters, where the seal is what keeps the liquid out of the element and the element sealed into the tank.
Load test
Switching the element on before it ships. It shows up faults that a meter on its own can miss.
