How It Works
Send the old element, or clear photos of it
The element itself is best. If it cannot be removed yet, photos from several angles with a tape measure or a caliper in shot will get things moving.
We measure it and read the failure
Dimensions, thread, termination and sheath material come off the sample. How and where it burnt out tells us whether copying it exactly is the right thing to do.
We check the working conditions with you
What it heats, how hot, how it is switched and how long it lasted. A sample cannot tell us any of that, and it is what decides whether the replacement lives longer than the original.
You get a quote and a build specification
Written out, so you can check what we understood before anything is made.
Build, test and delivery
Each element is checked for resistance and insulation resistance before it leaves, and delivered with its specification.
What to Send Us
The more of this you send, the closer the first quote will be.
- The old element, or photos from several angles with something in shot for scale
- Sheath diameter and overall length, if you can measure them
- Power in watts and working voltage, from the rating plate or the machine manual
- What the element heats, and to what temperature
- How long the old one lasted, and how it failed

Notes on Ordering
A sample answers the questions a drawing would — and one it would not
Hold the old element and most of the specification is in your hand: sheath diameter, overall length, the thread or flange, the shape of any bends, how the leads leave the body, and usually the sheath material. That is why sending a sample is the fastest route for a replacement, and why most orders arrive this way.
What a drawing cannot show, and a burnt element can, is how it failed. A bulge or a discoloured band partway along the tube says that section was running far hotter than the rest. A failure right at the terminal end says moisture or a loose connection rather than an overload. A sheath pitted from the outside says the medium attacked it, not the wire.
That evidence changes what we build.
Copying exactly is not always the right answer
If the old element ran for years and simply wore out, copy it. That is a proven design in that machine, and the sensible thing is to reproduce it.
If it failed early, copying it reproduces the fault. An element that lasted a few months in water usually had too high a watt density, the wrong sheath material for that water, or a dry-running problem the machine has not fixed. A same-for-same replacement will fail the same way on the same schedule.
So we ask how long it lasted before quoting. That one question separates a replacement from a repeat.
The electrical rating has to come from somewhere
Dimensions come off the sample. The power and voltage often do not: the stamp may be burnt away, and a failed element with a broken wire cannot be measured.
In that case the figures come from the machine — its rating plate, its manual, or the controller settings. What we will not do is invent a wattage, because wattage and heated length together are the whole design. A number guessed here produces an element that either underperforms or destroys itself.
Photos work when the element cannot be removed
If the machine is still running on its remaining elements, or the failed one is seized in place, start with photographs. Take them from several angles, with a tape measure or caliper in the frame so scale can be read, and include a close shot of the terminal end and of any rating stamp.
It is not as good as the part in hand, but it is usually enough to begin, and we will tell you exactly which extra dimension is needed.
Send the failure, not just the shape
The most useful sample is the one that has not been cleaned up. Scale still on the sheath, the discolouration where it overheated, the charred deposit from an oil tank — all of it is evidence about the working conditions, and all of it is lost if the element is wire-brushed before it is sent.
Common Questions
The old element is burnt and deformed. Is it still useful?
Yes, very. Even a badly burnt element gives the diameter, the thread, the termination and usually the length. The burn pattern also shows where it was overheating, which a clean sample would not.
Can you read the wattage off the old element?
Sometimes, from the rating stamp or by measuring its resistance if the wire is still intact. If neither is possible, we need the figure from the machine's plate or manual, because guessing it would be guessing the whole design.
Will the new one be identical to the old one?
It will fit identically. Whether it should be electrically identical depends on why the old one failed. If it burnt out early, copying the same watt density just repeats the fault.
What if I cannot remove the element to send it?
Photos from several angles with a ruler or caliper in the picture, plus the dimensions you can reach, are usually enough to start. We will tell you what else is needed.
I have several elements from the same machine. Do you need them all?
One of each different type is enough, plus a note of how many of each you need. If they failed differently, send the ones that failed differently — that tells us more.
Do you keep the sample?
Tell us if you need it back. Otherwise it is kept while the order is being built so the finished element can be checked against it.
